What is a Justice-Involved Veteran?

Justice-involved veterans are those who have previously served in the armed forces and have been arrested or incarcerated.

These veterans are at high risk for psychiatric and substance disorders such as depression, violent behavior, homelessness, and alcohol abuse.
Without the proper care and mental health treatment, the people who protected our nation, face a cycle of incarceration and substance dependency on levels higher than average justice-involved adults.

How FLJC Helps

Florida Justice Center wants to do everything in its power to help those who served our country through our unique holistic programs.

Veterans services we offer:

  • Legal defense services
  • Onsite and online individual behavioral health counseling
  • Onsite and online group therapy
  • Case management
  • Connections to social services
  • Expungement of criminal history
  • Voting rights restoration

We develop personalized case management strategies to help servicemembers work through their unique mental health needs. Our counseling sessions tackle an array of topics such as depression, substance abuse, anger management, post-traumatic stress disorder, and reentry after both service and incarceration.

We also offer a variety of social service connections which can be used to obtain assistance with food, housing, transportation, and other necessities.

Why Veterans?

  • They Sacrificed for Us

  • Service-Related Trauma

Why Justice-Involved Veterans?

Veterans have higher instances of arrest, mental health issues, homelessness, and substance abuse due to the unaddressed trauma afflicting our nation’s heroes as a result of their service to our country.

We believe that these issues stem from the sacrifices they made for our freedom.

Without the proper care and mental health treatment, the people who protected our nation face a toxic cycle of incarceration and substance dependency.

We owe it to these heroes to get them the help they need and deserve.
