Florida Justice Center Announces Successful Mother’s Day Bail Out
Families in Miami reunited for this important day of love and family, provided support.
Miami, FL (May 12, 2024) –
Florida Justice Center is thrilled to announce the resounding success of this year’s Mother’s Day Bail Out event. Through this impactful initiative, Florida Justice Center was able to reunite mothers with their families in Miami, highlighting the profound difference community support can make in the fight for family togetherness.
In the weeks leading up to Mother’s Day, Florida Justice Center mobilized community resources and generous donations to provide bail assistance for mothers who could not afford it. Women released as part of this initiative were being held pre-trial for nonviolent offenses, the vast majority for misdemeanor charges.
“Seeing the joy on the faces of these mothers as they embraced their children was incredibly moving,” said Jonathan Bleiweiss, Director of Programs of Florida Justice Center. “This initiative not only brings families together but also raises awareness about the inequities within our bail system that disproportionately impact low-income communities of color.”
The success of the Mother’s Day Bail Out was made possible through the collaborative efforts of volunteers, donors, and partner organizations who share Florida Justice Center’s commitment to justice and families. This year’s campaign saw a record number of contributions, both in terms of financial donations and volunteer participation.
Florida Justice Center extends its heartfelt gratitude to everyone who contributed to the success of the Mother’s Day Bail Out.
