Quantum Foundation Awards Florida Justice Center Grant to Increase Services in Palm Beach County

Quantum in the Community Grant will expand legal services into underserved communities in Belle Glade, Pahokee, and South Bay.

West Palm Beach, FL (December 8, 2023) –

The Quantum Foundation, Palm Beach County’s premier grantmaking organization focused on addressing the social determinants of health (SDOH), announced Florida Justice Center as one of 120 organizations selected to receive their prestigious Quantum in the Community grant for grassroots organizations. Florida Justice Center was awarded a grant to increase access to legal services in the Glades region of Palm Beach County including Belle Glade, Pahokee, and South Bay.

On November 7, 2023, the Quantum Foundation held their annual Quantum in the Community awards ceremony and gala where each of the grantees was presented a check to support their work in the community. While healthcare providers are recognized by the Quantum Foundation, the organization also recognizes the importance of holistic services that affect an individual and community’s health such as access to legal services, clothing, healthy food, and more.

“This year, the ‘why’ behind our Quantum in the Community giving is even greater,” said Eric Kelly, president of Quantum Foundation. “Palm Beach County residents have experienced extreme hardship, which for some has led to job loss, homelessness, and neglecting their health. We are proud to support the grassroots organizations that are helping to fill in these gaps as our neighbors get back on their feet.”

“We are excited to expand our presence in Palm Beach County’s underserved communities. With some of the state’s highest rates of poverty and disproportionate arrest rates for people of color, the towns of Belle Glade, Pahokee, and South Bay are ideal for Florida Justice Center to increase access to free legal services,” said Jonathan Bleiweiss, Executive Director of Florida Justice Center. “With this grant, we can do just that: provide hope and the resources for a better chance at success for those impacted by the criminal legal system.”
