Janet C. Tacoronte, is an attorney with over twenty years experience. She most recently served as the General Counsel of Boats Group, the world’s #1 online marketplace for boats, focusing in the areas of privacy, marketing, tech, intellectual property, M & A, and corporate matters. Previously she worked as in-house counsel at two international companies in the areas of hospitality and retail.
Janet started her legal career in private practice and managed a successful bankruptcy, real estate, and litigation practice serving clients in South Florida for over ten years. She also owned a title company and conducted hundreds of residential and commercial closings throughout the state.
She served on the Affordable Housing Board for the City of Sunrise as Vice-Chair for 7 years and has provided pro bono hours in the areas of bankruptcy, foreclosures, wage garnishments, and landlord/tenant matters.
Janet has written and lectured on topics related to labor and employment, bankruptcy, real estate, and private practice management. She authored the book “How to Use Your Debt to Your Advantage in a Chapter 13 Bankruptcy” (Amazon Kindle). She has spoken on and moderated panels for Tech GC and South Florida Women in House Counsel Group. She has served in multiple leadership roles with legal organizations and was named Top 50 Attorneys for Miami 2022 by Attorney Intel magazine. She is a 2018 Poder25 GC Ready Participant (HNBA) and has been awarded the distinction of the 2015 Honorable Cornelius Blackshear Fellowship and 2014 Next Generation Class from the National Conference of Bankruptcy Judges. She was the first recipient of the Terrence Russell Equal Justice Fellow which placed her to intern at Broward County Legal Aid in the family division.
Janet received her Bachelors in Arts from Florida International University and her Juris Doctorate from St. Thomas University School of Law. Currently she is enrolled in pursuing a joint Global Executive Masters in Business from the Ecolé des Ponts Business School in Paris and EADA Business School in Barcelona . She is admitted to the bar in the State of Florida, the Southern District of Florida, is a Solicitor in England & Wales and holds a certification in US Private Sector Privacy.
Janet is proficient in Spanish and conversational in French and Italian. She is a born and raised Floridian and avid Miami Dolphins fan. In the off- season she enjoys spending her time with her family and traveling extensively.
