Miami Gardens, FL (July 15, 2021) –
Over 266,000 people in Miami-Dade County currently have a suspended license. Approximately 1 in 3 adults have an arrest record. Tens of thousands of Miamians cannot vote because of outstanding fines and fees. Florida Justice Center, in collaboration with numerous community partners and governmental agencies, aims to address these issues in a fun atmosphere with a free community legal clinic and resource fair at the Betty T. Ferguson Recreational Complex at 3000 NW 199th St, Miami Gardens, Florida 33305 from 10am to 4pm on July 31, 2021.
The event will offer a wide variety of FREE services to help individuals with a multitude of barriers to success. Community members will be provided valuable information and resources that include:
- Free legal assistance, such as reinstating suspended driver licenses, arrest record sealing and expungement, assistance with fines and fees, landlord/tenant issues, evictions, early termination of probation, technical probation violations, voting rights restoration, and more…
- Reentry services, such as referrals to housing, mental health services, medical care, job skills training, education, transportation, family reunification, and substance abuse treatment
- Voter registration
- Employment assistance
- Sealing & expungement and driver license fees will be paid by the National Diversity & Inclusion Cannabis Alliance and Green Thumb Industries.
There will be a DJ and food trucks on hand to create a festive mood and an event for the whole family.
“All of us at Florida Justice Center are dedicated to increasing access to justice by bringing our always free legal services to underserved communities.
